Beacon Coding 2026

Beacon Community Church is offering a four-day intro to coding camp for middle schoolers on the mornings of Feb 17-20 during February break 2026.

Ages: 5th-8th Grade.

Cost: $130 if you register by Dec 31. ($145 if by Jan 15, or $160 by Jan 31).

Tuesday (9am-12pm): Touch Typing, Code with Scratch (scratch.mit.edu)

Wednesday (9am-12pm): More Scratch, Intro to HTML/CSS

Thursday (9am-12pm): More HTML/CSS, Intro to JavaScript

Friday

  • 9am-12pm: Project work, Ethics of AI & Coding with AI

  • 5:30-7pm: Showcase & Dinner - whole family invited

Location: Beacon Community Church @ 376 Trapelo Rd, Belmont, MA (Map)

Computers: We will provide Chromebooks for kids to use at the camp.

Snacks: We'll have nut-free snacks (and stretch breaks!), but no lunch.

Safety: Our wifi will block all sites not needed for camp, and kids will be overseen by our team of background checked volunteers.

Why learn coding? Even though AI makes it easier than ever to start creating software, the logical thinking and rigor of learning to code is key to going the distance. And coding is a core skill that can be used in many fields.

About the instructor: Our lead instructor has over 10 years of professional experience and has worked as an software engineer, technical lead and manager.
